In my
private practice I strive to help people improve their mood, feel an increased sense of peace, strengthen their relationships,
and create a healthy rapport with food and their bodies. I use skills from many different types of therapy to try to best
achieve the goals of my clients. I have found that a combination of approaches is most effective for my clients.
I received
my Ph.D. in 1984 from the University of Minnesota, Counseling Psychology Program. I have been licensed as a psychologist since
1984 (LP 1811). I began my professional career in a college setting helping students with the problems of young adulthood.
I spent three years at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in an outpatient clinic where I provided short-term and long-term counseling
for individuals with depression, anxiety and the variety of problems that arise with unhappy childhood events.
I also
provided specialized care for persons with eating disorders in both an outpatient and inpatient setting. I was coordinator
of both the eating disorders and women's therapy issues programs. In 1988, I began a private practice where I have combined
a psychotherapy practice with teaching at the University of Minnesota in the Counseling Psychology Program as an Adjunct Professor.
I have also done some business consulting.
I have been married since 1983, and have two daughters
and a dog. I really appreciate the joys and challenges of each of these relationships!
